Concours of Courtesy Meeting with Ms. Maryam Salim, Country Manager of the World Bank in Cambodia (September 13, 2021)

Phnom​ Penh: ​At Rumduol Auditorium of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, a video conference was held on Concours of Courtesy Meeting with Ms. Maryam Salim, Country Manager of the World Bank in Cambodia, and four Bank Officers. The meeting was chaired by HE Chann Sinath, Under-Secretary of State and Director of PMU-ADB and WB MOWRAM of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM), with participants as Director General and Directors of relevant Departments of MOWRAM, Deputy Secretary-General of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee, Director of Department of Tonle Sap Authority and PMU officials, and national and international experts involved. During the meeting, HE Under-Secretary of State, Chairman of the Meeting, conveyed the message of HE Lim Kean Hor, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, Chairman of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee, and Chairman of the Tonle Sap Authority. wishing a successfully assigned a new task to Ms. Maryam Salim, the World Bank Country Manager for Cambodia.

His Excellency briefed the meeting on the main tasks of the MOWARM in the development and management of water resources in the five river basin groups in the Mekong River Basin, flood and drought management, and the goal of increasing the water consumption of more than 5 billion cubic meters in the country per year to increase by 30% by 2030 and the need for water investment budget to ensure better water supply for agriculture and other related sectors for sustainable development, ensure employment, gender, and the economy of Cambodia and expressed his thanks and appreciate the support of the World Bank, one of Cambodia's key development partners, which has supported Cambodia in the past, present and future through financing development projects such as the Mekong Integrated Water Resources Management Project. HE Chair allowed HE Watt Botkosal president the progress of implementation of the MIWRMP 3 project.

Ms. Maryam Salim, World Bank Country Manager for Cambodia, thanked HE Lim Kean Hor for his congratulations and kind wishing. She expressed her deep appreciation for Cambodia's clear water policy, strategy, and clear vision on the water as well as for transboundary water cooperation. She also stated that Cambodia is a strategic partner with the World Bank and she strongly hopes to continue further discussions to determine water resources investment projects in Cambodia, as stated by the Chairman of the meeting.
