Regional Consultation Meeting on the MASAP Mainstreaming into MRC Drought Adaptation Guidance (October 19, 2021)

Phnom Penh: Mekong River Commission Secretariat (MRCS) had organized the Regional Consultation Meeting on the MASAP Mainstreaming into MRC Drought Adaptation Guidance, and Climate Fund Accreditation for MRC, which was presided over and leaded the discussion by Mr. Bounttien Sanaxonh, Director of Planning Division, MRCS and participated by the EGPDs from the four member countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR., Thailand, and Viet Nam), relevant MRCS staff, international expert on the climate change mainstreaming, international expert on climate fund accreditation, and GIZ development advisors. The EGPD from Cambodia leaded by His. Excellency Mr. Kol Vathana, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC) and jointed by the relevant staff from CNMCS, National expert on the climate change mainstreaming, and relevant staff from line agencies, including, MOWRAM, MAFF, MoE, TSA, and NCDM.

The Objectives of the Meeting are:

(1) Discuss on the technical note on MASAP mainstreaming into MRC drought adaptation guidance,

(2) Report on progress of the activity of climate fund accreditation and discuss on the Work Plan for the accreditation process,

(3) Discuss on obtaining a nomination letter for climate fund accreditation process, and

(4) Discuss on the opportunity for the readiness support from Green Climate Fund/Adaptation Fund.

The Meeting had preceded into two Sessions, namely the morning Session - MASAP mainstreaming into MRC drought management guidance, which focuses on the Overview of the MASAP mainstreaming and MASAP mainstreaming into MRC drought management guidance; and the afternoon Session - Climate fund accreditation for MRC, which focuses on (1) Overview of climate fund accreditation for MRC, work plan and progress, (2) Obtaining the nomination letter for the climate fund accreditation, and (3) Opportunity of MRC for readiness support from climate fund.
