Regional Gathering Workshop for Flood and Drought Forecasters (March 17-18, 2022)

Phnom Penh: H.E Long Saravuth, Deputy Secretary General of Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC), led Cambodia’s Working Group to attend a Regional Gathering Workshop for Flood and Drought Forecasters, Data Senders; Back-To-Back with Consultation Meeting on Methodology and Roadmap for Medium and Long-ranges Forecasting/Outlook. Cambodia’s Working Group Members are representatives of Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and the CNMC General Secretariat.

The Meeting’s objectives were to (1) bring together all MRCS-RFDMC’s technical staff and National focal points from member countries to share experiences, lesson learnt on flood and drought forecasting activities; (2) discuss plan for improving river monitoring activity and flood and drought forecasting technique; (3) present the findings on needs assessment for enhancement of National Forecasting Center; and (4) propose methodology and tools to be developed for medium and long-range forecasts/outlooks;  and (5) discuss on how to ensure the quality of new tools which can be integrated into the existing FFW system at RFDMC; and (5) enhance cooperation and build closer cooperation on flood and drought forecasting and related activities between national and regional levels.
