National Working Session on (MASAP) Mainstreaming and Transboundary Adaptation Project (November 15, 2022)

Siemreap: Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC) had conducted a National Working Session on “MASAP Mainstreaming and Transboundary Adaptation Project” under the Chairmanship and leading the discussion by H. E. Mr. So Sophort, Secretary General of CNMC, which participated by CNMCS relevant officers; relevant line agencies officers, including MoE, MOWRAM, MAFF, TSA, MPWT, and NCDM, National Consultant, and MRC Secretariat Experts.

The Objectives of the Meeting are (1) to discuss and seek comments on the draft concept note of the transboundary adaptation project (Mekong Delta project) and (2) to discuss and seek comments on the MASAP mainstreaming into the national/ subnational drought management activities.

The Meeting had reviewed, discussed, and commented on: The draft Concept note of the project: Water use efficiency, flood and drought management to ensure water security in the Mekong Delta under climate change and sea level rise conditions; and The MASAP mainstreaming into national /subnational drought management activities focuses on (1) Objective and methodology; (2) National/sub-national drought management governance, policies, strategies and projects; (3) Climate change and transboundary issues in the drought management policies, strategies and projects; (4) MRC outputs of basin-wide assessment of climate change impacts and MASAP priorities and action plan, for drought management; (5) Identification of drought management activities at national and sub-national level for the MASAP mainstreaming; and (6) Prioritization of the drought management activities for the MASAP mainstreaming.
