Phnom Penh: The “Inter-Ministerial Commission to Resolve the Collapse of the Bassac-Hau Giang River bank and Chrey Thom-Binh Gi Canal bank along the Cambodia-Vietnam Border in Kandal Province” had organized its 7th Meeting to discuss, exchange, and develop practical action plan for the Phase II implementation on the embankment of the Bassac-Hau Giang River and Chrey Thom-Binh Gi Canal river bank and seeking key inputs to develop basis for comprehensive preparation for the upcoming negotiation with the Vietnam National Working Group in order have the proactive, accountable, and sustainable resolution of the issues. The Meeting was presided over and leaded the discussion by His Excellency Dr. Lam Chea, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interiors and Chairperson of the “Inter-Ministerial Commission to Resolve the Collapse of the Bassac-Hau Giang River bank and Chrey Thom-Binh Gi Canal bank along the Cambodia-Vietnam Border in Kandal Province”. The Objectives of the Meeting are (1) preparation of the detail expenditure and action plan for the implementation of the Phase II on the embankment of the Bassac-Hau Giang River and Chrey Thom-Binh Gi Canal river bank, (2) preparation of the main document for upcoming negotiation with Vietnam National Working Group on the matter, and (3) discuss and develop required measures for the construction of Bassac-Hau Giang River and Chrey Thom-Binh Gi Canal embankment, challenges, and proposal required.

The Participants of the Meeting are members of the commission as representatives coming from MFA&IC, Inter-ministerial Committee on Border Affairs, Kandal Provincial Governance Body, MEF, MPWT, MOWRAM, General Director of General Directorat of Administration of the Ministry of Interiors, and Deputy General Commissioner of the National Police of the Ministry of Interiors; representatives from MME and CNMC; and Staff of the Ministry of Interiors. His Excellency Mr. Kol Vathana, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC) was assigned to attend the Meeting.

The Meeting had listened the report on the decision of the RCG as stated in the Notice No. ០៦ សជណ.មយ, dated 03 January 2023 on the Report on the progress of the work done by The “Inter-Ministerial Commission to Resolve the Collapse of the Bassac-Hau Giang River bank and Chrey Thom-Binh Gi Canal bank along the Cambodia-Vietnam Border” of the RGC and discussed and commented on the agenda items according to the above meeting objectives items.
