Workshop On Water Resources Management And Identifications Of The Development Of The 3S And 4Ps (January 25-26, 2021)

Stung Treng: H.E Watt Botkosal, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC) and the Component 2 Project Manager of the Mekong Integrated Water Resources Management Project Phase III , Chair of the Workshop provided a welcome and opening remark to this workshop on Water Resources Management and Identifications of the Development of the three river basins (Sekong, Sesan and Sre Pok) and 4 Ps  (Prek Preah, Prek Krieng, Prek Kampi and Prek Te) basins located in the northeastern region of Cambodia.

The workshop aims to support the updating of river basin profiles in the 3S and 4P areas, to expand the development of scenario identification indicators, which are an important part of the Decision Support System (DSS), a tool for the analysis of Integrated Water Resources Management and serve as a basis for river basin planning, including investment in water-related sectors such as irrigation, hydropower dams, agriculture, flood management, etc. in the river basin in line with the national Sector strategic goals of the institution. The workshop expects getting inputs and feedbacks from participants to ensure that the development of the 3S and 4P basin profile is up-to-date and that the DSS can be finalized.

The workshop was attended by officials from the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology Ministry of Mines and Energy, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Rural and Development, and Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Provincial Departments of Water Resources and Meteorology Stung Treng, Kratie, Ratana Kiri and Mondulkiri ; and the CNMC General Secretariat, Project Management Unit Component 2, and DHI Technical Advisory Team from both local and Denmark.
