Meeting to Discuss a New Project Called the Integrated Water Resources Management Project (IWRMP) (December 14-17, 2021)

Phnom Penh: HE Watt Botkosal, Deputy Secretary-General, Cambodia National Mekong Committee, attended a meeting organized by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) on December 14-17, 2021 at the Rumduol Hall of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology. His Excellency Chan Sinath, Under Secretary of State of the MOWRAM and Director of PMU-ADB and WB MOWRAM, chaired the online video meeting with the participation of officials representing relevant national institutions, including Lok Chumteav Undersecretary of State, Director-General, Departmental level and technical officers of the MOWRAM, an official from Cambodia National Mekong Committee, an official of the Tonle Sap Authority, national and international experts and representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), officials representing the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD), the Ministry of Environment (MOE) and the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME).

The meeting was held with Mr. Ryutaro Takaku, Senior ADB Officer, Head of Mission to Cambodia, to discuss a new project called the Integrated Water Resources Management Project (IWRMP) to support investment capacity building in water resources and river basin group 1 and group 2 management and development in Cambodia.  Mr. Ryutaro Takaku presented and led the discussion on the content of the project and the outputs and their results indicators and the location of the project. The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology is the executive body under the leadership of HE Lim Kean Hor, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, who initiated and directly led during 2017. The relevant ministries are involved in the implementation were defined.

The meeting summed up the good results and agreed on the content of the MOU for the four-day mission under the chairmanship of HE Under Secretary of State Chan Sinath and representatives of (ADB) European Investment Bank (EIB) and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has agreed to co-finance the project.
