National Stakeholder Forum on the Selection of Pilot Projects (October 20-21, 2022)

Stung Treng: H.E So Sophort, Secretary General of Cambodia National Mekong Committee  (CNMC), chaired the National Stakeholder Forum on the Selection of Pilot Projects under the UNOSSC Project and with the participation of Representatives of relevant ministries and local authorities, including the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry of Mines and Energy, NGOs on Cambodia, Research Institute, Development Partners (P-LINK, Ministry of Science and ICT, Mekong Institute, STEPI, UNOSSC, Science and Technology Policy Institute), the MRC Secretariat, provincial departments, local authorities, local communities, and the CNMC General Secretariat. The Forum was also chaired opening remarks by Mr. Denis Nkala, Chief of Intergovernmental and UN System Affairs, UNOSSC. On October 21, the participants visited local authorities and 3 local communities including fisheries and Water Use Communities along Sekong river, located around 40 km from Stung Treng town and mobilized baseline data for the upcoming process of the sites selection for a pilot study project.

The Forum’s objectives are (1) to further discuss the final selection of national pilot site(s); (2) to further discuss the final selection of national pilot site(s); (3) to discuss national implementation structures for the national pilot project in Cambodia; and (4) to bring national stakeholders to discuss relevant issues pertaining to P-LINK; discussing the integration of the three sectors (water, food, energy) in P-LINK implementation.
