Regional Training Workshop on Drought Monitoring and Forecasting Tools Using Satellite Data (November 03-04, 2022)

Hanoi: Working Group for Cambodia, attended a Regional Training Workshop on Drought Monitoring and Forecasting Tools using Satellite Data. The Workshop was chaired by Mr. Tran Minh Khoi, Director of Technical Support Division(TD) of the MRC Secretariat and attended by Working Group from the MRC member countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Viet Nam, Thailand). Composition of Cambodia including representatives of the CNMC General Secretariat: Mr. Chheang Hong, Director, Mr. Meak Chhavannary, Deputy Director and Mr. Yang Chanborey, Technical Officer of Information and Knowledge Management Department, and representatives of MOWRAM: Mr. Hun Sothy, Deputy Director of Hydrology and River Works Department and Mr. So Im Monichoth, Deputy Director of Meteorology Department.

The Workshop’s objectives are (1) to Enhance capacity and capability of national agencies on drought monitoring and forecasting; (2) to introduce new tools which RFDMC has just developed to better handle the calculation of drought indices including SPI, SRI, SMA, and CDI; and (3) to maintain communication network and exchange knowledge between national agencies and MRCS’s RFDMC on drought monitoring and forecasting.
