Kampong Cham: H.E. Mr. Te Navuth, Permanent Vice-Chairman of Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC), chaired the National Consultation Meeting on Updating Rule of Procedures of the Mekong River Commission (MRC) with participation of His Excellency Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, Advisers, National Coordinators in charge and relevant officials from Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Tonle Sap Authority.

The meeting was organized to inform and discuss the four main MRC legal documents that need to be updated and revised in accordance with the development of the MRC and in accordance with the Basin Development Strategy 2021-2030. Strategic plan 2021-2025 and recommendations from development partners រor the sake of effective and sustainable management, protection and conservation of the Mekong River Basin, with the active participation of the MRC member countries and stakeholders.

These documents include: 1- the MRC Council’s Internal Rules, Joint Committee’s and MRC Secretariat’s 2- Code of Conduct and Prevention of Fraud and Anti-Corruption 3- Structure and staff of MRC Secretariat and 4- Stakeholders Engagement.

As a result, the Meeting strategically reviewed in detail the four documents and mobilized comments and recommendations actively made by the participants as inputs for submission to the MRC JC Task Force Meeting in March for further review and provide guidance for improvement.
