Regional Consultation Meeting on Detailed Scope of Two Pilot Projects to Implement the Report on Experiences and Opportunities (March 09, 2022)

Phnom Penh: Mekong River ​Commission Secretariat (MRCS) had organized the Regional Consultation Meeting on “Detailed scope of two pilot projects to implement the report on experiences and opportunities for coordinated operating mechanisms and cooperation arrangements on dam operations”, which presided over and leaded the discussion by by Mr. Bounttien Sanaxonh, Director of Planning Division, MRCS and participated by the Government Officials from relevant LAs of the four member countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR., Thailand, and Viet Nam), relevant MRCS staff, and International Consultant. The Inter-Ministerial Group of Experts from Cambodia leaded by His. Excellency Mr. Kol Vathana, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC) and jointed by the relevant officials from MOWRAM, MoE, MAFF, MPWT, MME, EDC, and CNMCS PNPCA Working Group Members.

The Objectives of the Meeting are (1) Recap on the report and its slight update after the 10th Joint Platform meeting, (2) Discuss in detail the additions to the scope of the two pilot projects for implementation, and (3) Present and discuss proposed actions and next steps for the activity. The Expected Outputs of the Meeting is the agreement on the scope of the two pilot projects for implementation.

The Meeting has focused, reviewed, and discussed on the three main agenda items, namely (1) Key outcomes of the 10th Joint Platform meeting and recap of the report and its slight update, (2) Detailed scope of Pilot Project #1 on “Establishment of Cooperation mechanisms for data and information sharing for existing dams”, and (3) Detailed scope of Pilot Project #2 on “Establishment of Information sharing and communication mechanisms for water-related emergencies”.
