Regional Gathering Workshop on Flood and Drought Forecasters and Data Senders (November 02, 2022)

Hanoi: Working Group for Cambodia, led by Mr. Chheang Hong, Director of Information and Knowledge Management Dept. of Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC), attended the Regional Gathering Workshop on Flood and Drought Forecasters and Data Senders. The Workshop was facilitated by Mr. Tran Minh Khoi, Director of Technical Support Division of the MRC Secretariat. Composition from Cambodia including representatives of CNMC: Mr. Chheang Hong, Director of IKM Dept., Mr. Yang Chanborey, Technical Officer, IKM Dept. and Representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology: Mr. So Im Monychot, Deputy Director of the Meteorological Dept., Mr. Hun Sothy, Deputy Director of Hydrology and River Works Dept.(HRWD), Ms. Sun Vathana, Technical Officer of HRWD and Ms. Ham Leakena, Technical Officer of HRWD.

The Workshop’s objectives are 1. to share experiences and lessons learned among the technical working groups of the Regional Flood and Drought Management Center and the professional officers of member countries for flood and drought forecasting; and 2. to discuss plans for improving river monitoring and flood and drought forecasting techniques; and 3. To strengthen cooperation among experts from member countries (Cambodia, Viet Nam, Lao PDR, Thailand) and the Mekong River Commission's Flood and Drought Management Center.
