National Consultative Workshop on Environmental and Social Framework for Cambodia Water Security Improvement Project (September 20, 2022)

The working group of the General Secretariat of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee, consisted of H.E Hak Socheat, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee, Mr. Nguon Vichet, Deputy Director Department of Projects and Programs, and Mr. Sak Samol, Officer of Department of Planning and International Cooperation, participated in the National Consultative Workshop on Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) for Cambodia Water Security Improvement Project (CWSIP), which was held in the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology and led by Mr. HE Chan Sinath, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology and Director of PMU-ADB and WB MOWRAM and with the participation of relevant ministries and institutions, including: Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ministry  Environment, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Land, Urban Planning, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Interior, Tonle Sap Authority, Department of Water Resources and Meteorology from some provinces and national and international experts.

The objectives are: (1) to improve water security and increase the water productivity of agriculture in the river basin in the Kingdom of Cambodia; (2) to improve the overall water security for all stakeholders in the target river basin; (3) to taking the potential for unused water and increase agricultural productivity in the targeted river basin; and (4) to improve the overall capacity of water resources management of the Royal Government at the central level, local government and relevant communities.
