51st MRC Joint Committee Meeting (June 16, 2021)

Phnom Penh: Excellency So Sophort, Secretary General of Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC) and Member of the MRC Joint Committee for Cambodia (MRC JC), led a Group of Inter-Ministerial representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Mine and Energy, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and  Deputy Secretary Generals, Advisor to CNMC and all Director of Departments under the General Secretariat of the CNMC attended the 51st MRC Joint Committee Meeting via Video Conference.

The Meeting reviewed and discussed the progresses of the MRC Secretariat operation and management, MRC Rules of Procedures, hydropower strategy preparation, Mekong mainstream hydropower project prior consultation, action plan for environmental management strategy, technical guidance (fisheries, water quality), flood and drought management project, hydrological conditions and cooperation with MRC Partners.

The Meeting was chaired by the Lao PDR (host) as the Chairperson of the MRC Joint Committee for 2021 and was attended by Delegates from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam and the Chief Executive Officer and other key staff of the MRC Secretariat.
