4th Regional Meeting of the Strategy and Partnership Expert Group (September 07, 2021)

Phnom Penh: HE Watt Botkosal, Deputy Secretary-General of the Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC), led a Cambodian working group consisting of HE Pich Dun, Advisor of CNMC, HE Kol Vathana, Deputy Secretary-General of CNMC, and Directors of related Department of CNMC attend the 4th regional meeting of the Strategy and Partnership Expert Group via video conference. The participants were from MRC Secretariat, officers from MRC member countries (Cambodia, Lao PRD, Thailand, and Vietnam) and representatives of development partners.

The purpose of the meeting is to share information and provide an opportunity to discuss: (1) Promoting the Basin Development Strategy (BDS) 2021-2030 approved by the MRC Council regarding the Mekong Regional Cooperation Framework with Organizations (ASEAN, Mekong Lancang, Mekong-US, Mekong-Japan, Mekong-Korea, etc.) will contribute to the implementation of the Basin Development Strategy (2). Discuss and update on activities related to the Mekong water and related sectors by the above Mekong related cooperation frameworks and areas of cooperation with MRC on the Mekong River and related institutions; and (3) recommend on the regional cooperation program for the implementation of BDS for funding by GEF, GCF, and others.
