Coordination Meeting Between The National Mekong Committee Of The Member Countries And The MRC Secretariat (February 04-05, 2021)

Phnom Penh: H.E. Mr. Watt Botkosal, Deputy Secretary General of Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC), led National Coordinating Team of CNMC Secretariat to participate in a Coordination Meeting between the National Mekong Committee of the Member countries and the MRC Secretariat via video conference, with participation of Advisor, National Coordinating Team in charge and Assistants of the member Countries with a total of 10.

The Meeting’s objectives are to (1) further discuss the MRC Multi-Year Work Plan 2021-2022, the implementation of the strategic plan 2021-2025 and the river basin strategy 2021-2030 of the MRC, based on cooperation and coordination between the MRC Secretariat and Coordinating team of member countries/NMC (Cambodia, Laos PDR, Thailand and Viet Nam) to achieve MRC Strategic work direction and indicator framework in 2021.

A result of the Meeting are:

(1) reviewed the main achievements, core functions, challenges and agreed upon the working principles for implementation of the work plan 2021-2022

(2) discussed the action plan and budget for implementation in 2021 at the unit Experts in Environmental Management, Planning and Technical Support

(3) requested a national consultation (Cambodia) to review and approve the work calendar with relevant ministries and institutions

(4) Requested recognition from member countries prior to official publication; and

(5) Requested for much attention paid for the implementation of effective procedures, promotion of pilot studies, capacity building / Transfer knowledge and share data, information, and use of technical equipment appropriately and comprehensively in close consultation with member countries and Mekong stakeholders.
