H.E. Mr. Lim Kean Hor Received a Courtesy Call of Dr. Anoulak Kittikhoun, New Chief Executive Officer of the MRC (March 02, 2022)

Phnom Penh: H.E. Mr. Lim Kean Hor, Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, Chairman of Cambodia National Mekong Committee and Member of the Mekong River Commission (MRC) Council for Cambodia received a courtesy call of Dr. Anoulak Kittikhoun, new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the MRC Secretariat through Video Conferencing (Zoom).

At the Meeting, Excellency Minister expressed his congratulation and welcome to Dr. Anoulak Kittikhoun for having been appointed as CEO of the MRC Secretariat and highlighted with appreciation the significant achievements of MRC made till now through the regional cooperation for the sustainable management, utilization, development and conservation of water and related resources in the Mekong River Basin.

Dr. Anoulak Kittikhoun expressed his profound thanks to Excellency Minister for allowing him and his colleagues to pay a courtesy call and then informed about his main tasks that need to perform well in his tenure as well as his determination in promoting and enhancing the regional cooperation, joint efforts and partnership towards the achievement of responsible and sustainable development in the Mekong River Basin.

Following the CEO’s information on his main tasks ahead to perform together with his commitment, Excellency Minister stressed the importance of regional cooperation and the challenges facing the Mekong Basin including population growth and development, increasing demands for water, climate change, flood and drought risks. All of these have put pressures on natural resources in the Basin that require our greater attention, working together among member countries and with other partners for the effective and sustainable management and development of water and other related resources in the Mekong Basin with the shared prosperity together. Excellency Minister provided some main recommendation and guidance to pay more attention by the CEO and wishing him a great success for his assignment in order to bring about more achievements within the MRC cooperation framework.

CEO expressed his profound thanks to Excellency Minister and took note of all comments and recommendations made aiming at enhancing effectiveness of regional cooperation and work performance in a common goal for the sustainable development of the Mekong River Basin.
