42nd Meeting of Mekong River Commission (MRC) JC Task Forces

Vientiane, Laos, September 19, 2023 The MRC Secretariat held the 42nd JC Task Forces Meeting of the Mekong River Commission (MRC) with the participation of JC Task Forces delegates from MRC member countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam) a total of 25 participants, including 3 Cambodian delegates, as H.E Mr. Hak Socheat, Deputy Secretary General of the CNMC, H.E Mr.  Pich Dun, NCDD Advisor and Mr. Sin Samnang, Director of Personnel and Human Resource Development Department.  The purpose of this meeting is to discuss, provided comments and seek consensus on÷ (1) Proposal on the revision of Education Grant policy, (2) Proposal on the restructuring of CEO's remuneration, (3)The action plan to implement key priorities of the Vientiane Declaration, (4) Concept note on more regular MRC Summits....

Regional meeting on the Feasibility Study of the Wetland/Watershed Biodiversity and Livelihood Fund

Ho Chi Minh: September 17, 2023, H.E Mr. So Sophort, Secretary General of Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC) Co-chair the regional meeting on the Feasibility Study of the Wetland/Watershed Biodiversity and Livelihood Fund (WWBL) and was attended by Member Countries, GIZ, Regional Consultant and MRCS. However, Cambodia working group come from Ministry of Environment, Fisheries Administration and CNMC. The objectives of the meeting are: 1.  To discuss and obtain strategic comments from the Member Countries on the preliminary results of the Feasibility Study for the WWBL Fund aiming at reaching consensus on the fund outline for an onward endorsement by Joint Committee; and 2.  To discuss and obtain feedback on the updated work plan and corresponding timeline for the implementation of the WWBL....

On September 14, 2023, H.E Kim Seiha, Deputy Secretary General of CNMC, accompanied by H.E Long Saravuth, CNMC Advisor and officials from the Department of Information and Knowledge Management met with Ms. Sun Yannana, Deputy Researcher, Department of International Cooperation, (NDRCC) and Ms. Wang Ming Ming, Senior Advisor to the Organization (GIZ) of the People's Republic of China,  totally 16  participants (03 women). Special Joint Meeting of MRC Joint Committee and MLC Joint Working Group on “Joint Study and Field trip to the Cascade dam of the Lancang River in China

On 10-13 September 2023, 4 Cambodian delegate, led by His Excellency So Sophort, Secretary General of Cambodia National Mekong Committee, attended the Special Joint Meeting of MRC Joint Committee and MLC Joint Working Group on Water Resources Cooperation on “Joint Study on the Challenging Pattern of Hydrological Conditions of the LMRB and Adaptation Strategies” and Field trip to the Cascade dam of the Lancang River in China. The Meeting and Field trip were organized and facilitated by LMC Water Center and the MRC Secretariat. The objectives of the Special Joint Working Group and field trip are (1) to gather all MRC Joint Committee and Heads of the LMC Joint Working Group of 6 countries to jointly discuss and advise on the implementation of the recommendations of Phase 1 and effective conduct of the Joint Study Phase 2 and (2) to exchange experiences and strengthen Mekong-Lancang cooperation....
