His Excellency Hak Socheat, Deputy Secretary General of National Mekong Committee chaired National working session on the Chapter 4 Technical guideline for the implementation of the procedures for Water Quality and with the participation from relevant line agencies such as Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, Ministry of Environment, National Committee for Disaster Management, Cambodia National Mekong Committee, and MRCS. The objectives of the meeting are: 1. To inform the implementation status and progress of the TGWQ focusing on Chapter 4 “WQERM”; 2. To introduce roadmaps to support the capacity strengthening of the Member Countries with regard to Chapter 4 ‘WQERM” of TGWQ; and 3. Preliminary identify a potential NRO and NFP for the implementation of Chapter 4 “WQERM” of TGWQ....

Regional Training on Medium and Long-Range Flood and Drought Forecasting Tools (February 01-02, 2023)

Phnom Penh: Cambodian technical representatives from Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology and the CNMC General Secretariat, participated in the Regional Training on medium and long-range flood and drought forecasting tools. The training was facilitated by representatives of the MRC Secretariat with participation of technical representatives of member countries, DHI experts and the MRC Secretariat. The Training’s objectives are (1) to introduce new medium and long-range flood and drought forecasting tools in order to handle flood and drought events; (2) to enhance capacity and capability of National agencies on operating the tools system; and (3) to maintain communication network and exchange knowledge between national agencies and the RFDMC on medium and long-range flood and drought forecasting....

Kampong Cham: H.E Mr. So Sophort, Secretary General of Cambodia National Mekong Committee (CNMC), chaired a National Training Workshop on Flood Forecasting and Flash Flood Guidance Operation with participation of technical representatives of relevant ministries, institutions including MORWAM, MPWT and provincial departments, experts team of the MRC Secretariat and the CNMC General Secretariat. The Workshop’s objectives are: (1) to refresh participants on the fundamentals of the MRC-FEWS Technical on routing operation, data input, rainfall satellite, modelling running, etc.; (2) to refresh participants on the fundamentals of the MRC-FFGS technical exchange on experience operation of the system, analysis of the MRC-FFGS’s product; and (3) to understand the models in the MRC-FFGS products to support National flood forecasters....

Phnom Penh: The “Inter-Ministerial Commission to Resolve the Collapse of the Bassac-Hau Giang River bank and Chrey Thom-Binh Gi Canal bank along the Cambodia-Vietnam Border in Kandal Province” had organized its 7th Meeting to discuss, exchange, and develop practical action plan for the Phase II implementation on the embankment of the Bassac-Hau Giang River and Chrey Thom-Binh Gi Canal river bank and seeking key inputs to develop basis for comprehensive preparation for the upcoming negotiation with the Vietnam National Working Group in order have the proactive, accountable, and sustainable resolution of the issues.
